Updated Sephora Wishlist!

Friday, 31 October 2014

Back in August, I posted my Sephora Wishlist for my trip to New York in November. Now that my trip to New York is just under three weeks away (eek!), I thought it would be the perfect time to share my updated lust-list for the beauty paradise that is Sephora.
I will also do a drugstore and MAC wishlist before I go, so look out for that!

  • Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette, $42
  • Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Set, $39
  • NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette, $65
  • Sephora Favourites Superstars, $75
  • Sephora Favourites Give Me More Lip, $59
  • Elizabeth And James Nirvana White Rollerball, $22
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, $18
  • Marc Jacobs Daisy Rollerball Trio, $44
  • Urban Decay Vice 3, $60
As I said in my last wishlist post, I obviously won't be buying everything that I've put on my lists, but they'll just be a handy guideline to have when I get into Sephora to remind me of what I've been coveting.
I've been told that visiting Sephora on Times Square is quite an overwhelming experience, even for the seasoned Sephora shopper, so I'm incredibly excited to take a peek in it!
I definitely am gravitating towards the fabulous Christmas gift sets that Sephora are releasing this year, but there are still a few things from my previous wish list that I'm desperately coveting (hello, Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation and Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette!)

If you have any more recommendations to add onto my list, by all means leave them in a comment below!

Best Of The Brand: MeMeMe Cosmetics!

Thursday, 30 October 2014

Today I'm back with another Best Of The Brand post! I'm sure you've all heard of Mememe Cosmetics - I personally heard about them from Sam and Nic of Pixiwoo!
I was incredibly excited when they kindly sent me some items to try out, so I'm going to be showing you my top picks from the brand!

MeMeMe Long Wear Satin Lip Cream in Tuscan Red, £8.50
This beautiful orange-red colour smells identical to MAC lipsticks!
This is a long-lasting lipstick that's enriched with Shea butter and Vitamin E, ensuring perfectly smooth and soft lips all day.
The wear of this lipstick is incredible, it leaves a light stain on your lips so that even if you eat or drink, you won't lose all your lip colour straight away!
I would say this is a universally flattering colour, as it's not too bright or too dark, it's just the right amount of pigment.
It glides on so smoothly to the lips and feels so creamy and comfortable on the lips. I also love satin finishes, so it's a big thumbs up from me on this product!

MeMeMe Light Me Up Lipgloss in Illuminate, £6.99
This lipgloss reminds me of the Whitening Lightening glosses that everyone raves here
about! They have a little light attached to the inside of the applicator, which lights once you remove the applicator from the product. Then you have a mirror on the side of your gloss to apply it! I absolutely love this gloss - it's not overly pigmented, but it really reminds me of the types of glosses you see on the Victoria's Secret angels, that glossy, nude, sparkly gloss that looks stunning with any look. It's not overly sticky and it has a lovely scent to it. I featured it in a make-up of the day post last week which you can see here!

MeMeMe Arch Angel, £8.50
I think I have found the best dupe for Benefit's Gimme Brow! If you're interested in a full comparison blog post, let me know!
The Arch Angel is a brow gel with two sides - one side is a dark brown gel set, and the other is a doe-foot applicator which acts as a highlight for under the brow. You all know how much I love a good multi-purpose make-up product, so this is a huge hit with me! I love how tiny the spoolie is - it distributes just the right amount of product onto the brows, leaving them groomed and in place. I also like to use the brow gel on its own for lazy make-up days! The highlighter is beautiful - it's the perfect pearly highlight. I love using this on my cheek bones as a liquid highlighter too!

MeMeMe Flawless Concealer, £6.50
This is my favourite product by MeMeMe by far! This is the perfect concealer for both highlighting and covering blemishes. I personally prefer to use it to cover blemishes, but it works well for doing both. It's a creamy consistency and blends seamlessly into the skin. It has a light scent to it, it's quite sweet but not overpowering. I like to blend this out with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, and it gives a flawless finish. It's so inexpensive as well, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

So there's my top picks from MeMeMe! You can buy MeMeMe online at http://www.mememecosmetics.com/.
Be sure to follow them on Twitter and Instagram at @mememeireland or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mememe-Cosmetics-Ireland/427884717285681.

Halloween Fix: Makeup Revolution Atomic Lipsticks!

Wednesday, 29 October 2014

With Halloween on Friday, I thought it would be the perfect time to share these incredible new lipsticks from Makeup Revolution!
These out-there lipstick shades will be a perfect way to finish off your costume for Friday, as they're certainly eye catching colours! Even after Halloween, I think these are quite similar to some of the famous Lime Crime lipsticks, just significantly cheaper.

The collection consists of 5 explosive shades - just look at that colour payoff! I accept these are not the most wearable of shades, however I always think it's fun to have some wacky colours in your collection to play around with!
My personal favourite is Atomic Serpent - I just love the colour and how unusual it is!
The application of these little guys is very impressive, as with all Makeup Revolution products. I didn't use a lip pencil for the darker shades, but I used Cherry lip pencil by MAC with Atomic Ruby because I find reds can be a little messy unless you line your lips beforehand.

The quality of the lipsticks is impeccable, which is fantastic news as they're so inexpensive. They're a great way to spruce up your Halloween look without having to compromise on quality.
They apply so smoothly, and feel creamy and buttery on the lips. They have a bit of a glossy feel to them, but they aren't sticky or anything like that.
I would definitely recommend prepping your lips before applying them to get the best effect - I like to use my EOS mint lip balm before application!

Even though I would recommend these wholeheartedly for Halloween, I would definitely check out the purple and red colours for night-time looks, as I think they would look stunning all year around. Perhaps not the green though!!

The Makeup Revolution Atomic Lipsticks are just £1 each and are available from Superdrug or the Makeup Revolution website

Let me know what you think of these gorgeous lipsticks!

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette

Monday, 27 October 2014

Charlotte Tilbury sent the beauty world into a tizzy when she released her own make-up collection last year. The stunning collection only launched in Ireland at the end of August, and ever since I have been coveting a palette of hers.
I turned 18 just over two weeks ago and my parents bought me the beautiful Dolce Vita palette, which I still can't get over! Today I'm going to share my thoughts on the palette and whether it's worth the hefty price tag or not!

The palette itself is actually quite small - it perfectly houses the four colours with little extra room. It's nice and compact for travelling, and looks stunning on your make-up table! I like that the packaging is simple with just Charlotte's logo on it, I think it adds to the luxurious feel of the palette.

The colours in the palette are breath-takingly beautiful. You get four shades which are labelled to indicate which one you should use when - a frosty pink champagne (1.Prime), a rusty burgundy (2.Enhance), a khaki brown (3.Smoke) and finally a glittery copper-gold colour (4.Pop.) I always like palettes that are labelled in accordance to how you apply them, as I think it makes it so much easier for people just starting out with make-up, or even for those who haven't had time to play around with the palette and just want a quick way of applying the colours!
The pigmentation of the palette is of an incredibly high standard - the shadows are so smooth and buttery. I was quite surprised at how smooth the copper-gold shade was, as I expected it to be rough and gritty in texture. The copper-gold is obviously not as pigmented as the others, for the fact that it it quite glittery. I like to apply a gold base under it just to ensure that I get the fullest effect from it.
As you can see from the swatches above, the colours are absolutely stunning. I think Charlotte did a fantastic job at taking neutral, everyday colours and twisting them to create a palette that is unique and almost makes you feel obliged to have in your collection!

As you can probably tell, I have absolutely no faults with this palette, I'm absolutely besotted with it.
The lasting power on me is about 7-8 hours with a primer, and no creasing. I just love how versatile the palette is - you'd be incredibly surprised how many different looks you can achieve with four eyeshadows!

I would absolutely recommend this palette, perhaps if you have a birthday coming up, or even add it to your Christmas wishlist!
If you live in Ireland, the Charlotte Tilbury collection is exclusive to Brown Thomas and this palette will set you back €50.

What do you think of the Charlotte Tilbury collection - is there anything on your wishlist from it?

Thea Skincare Chocolate Body Butters Review!

Saturday, 25 October 2014

As you all know, I'm a big fan of Thea Skincare. I reviewed their skincare range and it improved my skin immensely. I was recently sent their new chocolate body butters to review for you all, and I'm seriously impressed! The smell of these products is absolutely incredible, especially if you have a chocolate-loving sweet tooth like me!

Chocolate and Orange Infused Body Creme

So imagine Terry's Chocolate Orange, in cream form, that you can lather all over your body. That delightful image is what you get with this little guy! However what I like most about it is that the smell isn't incredibly overpowering on your skin. The product is infused with the scent, allowing you to smell of something other than chocolate orange during the day!

Chocolate, Mint and Kukui Body Creme
This one was my favourite! It smells divine - it's an even mix of chocolate and mint. Kukui is an Hawaiian nut, and the oil from the nut is an excellent gentle moisturiser. The minty aroma allows your skin to feel hydrated and cool - it's so refreshing!

How do they perform?
These are some of the nicest body butters I have ever tried! They're not tacky or sticky, they're more of a soufflé consistency that glides over your skin and soaks in instantly. As you can see from the pictures above, they almost look whipped - and that's how they feel on the skin! They're the perfect after-bath indulgence. They leave the skin feeling so soft and pampered.

The Thea Chocolate Body Butters are the perfect pampering option - and they also give you your dose of chocolate without the guilt!

I would highly recommend checking these out for the perfect winter treat after a long day. You can find out more about them here.

What is your favourite after-bath indulgence?

Feelin' Lippy: Epic Blend Lip Balm Review!

Now that the winter is on its way with a bang, your lips can tend to feel much more vulnerable. Finding a good quality lip balm for the winter time is an absolute essential to keep those chapped lips away!
Epic Blend are a Canadian brand, who create cruelty, paraben and gluten free lip balms made with all-natural ingredients.

Epic Blend were kind enough to send me this super-pack of their lip balms to review for you, so let's take a closer look at them:

I absolutely love the vast selection of flavours included in the collection! The collection is divided into three different segments - More Moisture, Hemp and Vegan. The flavours are as follows:

More Moisture

  • Unflavoured
  • Grape
  • Green Apple
  • Cherry
Vegan
  • Wild Berry
  • Pineapple-Mint
Hemp
  • Vanilla
  • Mint
  • Coconut
  • Citrus Kick
My favourite scents are the Cherry and Pineapple-Mint!

These lip balms are incredible - they leave your lips feeling smooth and moisturised, without feeling greasy or sticky. They don't leave a residue on your lips, they blend in smoothly and really hydrate your lips. They're all sheer apart from the Garnet Star, which has a light brown-ish purple tint to it.

I keep an Epic Blend lip balm everywhere - my bag, my pencil case, my pocket - you name it!

The Epic Blend lip balms retail for $3.49 each, or $12.99 for a pack of four of the same flavours.
You can get them at EpicBlend.com.
I couldn't recommend them enough, so if you're looking out for your new winter lip balm - look no further!

What's your favourite winter lip product?

Miners Cosmetics Tin o'Tint Strawberry Lip Balm Review!

I absolutely love tinted lip balms - they're the easiest way to inject a little colour into your look while still keeping your lips soft and moisturised.
Miners Cosmetics sent me this gorgeous Tin o 'Tint lip balm a few weeks ago, and it's been my go-to lip product!

It smells like strawberries (obviously!) but it's not that overly perfumed, overbearing scent that some strawberry products can have. It's sweet and leaves a nice taste on your lips.

It leaves your lips feeling so hydrated and soft, and it doesn't leave any greasy residue behind.

The balm leaves a gorgeous red flush of colour on your lips, which is perfect for a natural look or it makes a great base for a red lip.

And for £2.99, could you go wrong?! I don't think so! You can get your lip balm at http://www.minerscosmetics.co.uk/.

What are your favourite tinted lip balms?

Halloween Makeup: Makeup Revolution's Give Them Nightmares Palette!

Thursday, 23 October 2014

With Halloween fast approaching, I thought it would be appropriate to share this new palette with you to get in the spirit. Introducing... Makeup Revolution's Give Them Nightmares eyeshadow palette!
It contains 18 Halloween themed eyeshadows, with 12 shimmery shades and 6 mattes.
The palette is packed full of deep blues, greens, purples and blacks that are perfect for whatever Halloween look you desire.

Like all Makeup Revolution products, the quality of this palette is phenomenal. The shadows are long-wearing, buttery smooth and highly pigmented. Each shadow performs beautifully, with little fall-out and no creasing.
The palette provides the key matte shades needed for any Halloween look, and gives a fabulous variety of shimmery shades for whoever you decide to be this Halloween!

All the shadows have really cute Halloween themed names, and the palette is the perfect size for travelling too.

Here are swatches of all the shimmery shades in the palette. They are stunning aren't they?! They're also the perfect transitional shades to wear for Christmas parties once you get your Halloween looks out of the way!

And here are the matte shades! They're six essential shades for any Halloween look. They can also be doubled up to be used as special effects colours, for example you can mix the purple and blue under your eyes to create very dramatic under eye circles!

Next week I will have lots of Halloween make-up looks to share with you so stay tuned for that! Some of the looks I created using this palette included Elsa from Frozen, a glamorous vampire and a zombie. Quite different looks, yes, but all very easy to do with this one handy palette!

The Give Them Nightmare palette retails for £6.00, which is an absolute bargain in my opinion! And as I said previously, it's not just a Halloween exclusive palette, the deep shimmery shades will also look incredible for Christmas looks too! It's available from Superdrug or online at http://www.makeuprevolutionstore.com/

Make sure to keep an eye out for my Halloween looks next week using this palette - and if you have any suggestions of looks I should do, make sure to let me know!

The Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette: I Heart Makeup's Make-Up Geek Palette!

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

Today I'm bringing you quite possibly one of the best eyeshadow palettes I've ever had. This is the I Heart Makeup Makeup Geek palette, which consists of 36 incredibly pigmented, buttery eyeshadows suitable for any look you can think of.

The only reservation I tend to have about larger eyeshadow palettes is whether I will get use out of all the colours, as sometimes I find that brands will add shades that are too similar just for the sake of filling out a palette. This is certainly not the case here, I have actually used every single shade in the palette since I received it about two weeks ago!

The pigmentation of the palette is impeccable - the shadows are so smooth and buttery.
The palette is prodominantly shimmery shadows. As you can see from the swatches, they are everything you'd want from shimmery colours. They're glittery without containing chunky pieces of glitter that will mess up your application, and they're not dusty.

There's no fallout at all with these colours, even with the darkest of shades in the palette.

The staying power is also without fault - when I trialled them without primer, they didn't crease or move at all after 6 hours wear! That's majorly impressive in my books!

I haven't even told you the best part yet, the price. This little guy retails for £7.99. Yes you read that correctly - £7.99! I don't even need to sell this palette to you any further.

I always like to comment on the product's packaging too - I really like how compact this palette is. It's unusual for a palette that holds so many shadows to be so well compressed while still giving a generous amount of product. It's also great for travelling, the palette itself is very sturdy, the mirror is huge and you could pop your brush into the space where the sponge-tip applicators are.

I genuinely couldn't recommend the Makeup Geek palette enough. I have absolutely no qualms about it - I can't give you one negative criticism on it.

I also featured this in a blog post last week to create a matte brown smoky eye so you can take a look at that here.
You can purchase this palette online at http://www.makeuprevolutionstore.com/index.php/heartmakeup/eyes/slogans/i-makeup-slogan-palette-makeup-geek.html and at Superdrug, you can find out if I Heart Makeup is stocked at your local Superdrug by checking the website above!

What do you think of the palette? Let me know!

My New Go-To MAC Lip Combination Inspired By Kylie Jenner!

Tuesday, 21 October 2014

I think everyone has fallen head-over-heels for the famous Kylie Jenner lip look. I posted a picture on Instagram recently of a beautiful lip combination by MAC, which was Soar lip liner and Brave lipstick. Unfortunately, when Mum went to try and get it for me for my birthday, Brave was sold out.
The night of my birthday my friends and I visited our local MAC, where the amazing Fabiana (my favourite make-up artist in the whole world) suggested this instead!

It's Soar lip liner with Viva Glam II and it looks amazing! It's all I've worn since I got it, I just think it looks perfect for any occasion and with any make-up look.
I get so many compliments every time I wear it, I'm so in love with it! If you can't get your hands on a Kylie-style colour, I'd definitely recommend checking your local MAC counter for Viva Glam II.
And as with all MAC products, the pigmentation and longevity of both is amazing!
Soar lip pencil is €16 and Viva Glam II is €19.50.
Apparently Kylie actually uses Soar lip liner (and Whirl!) so that makes us all one step closer to looking as beautiful as her!

The first time I wore it!

What's your opinion on the Kylie lipstick trend?

Bee Good Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water!

Monday, 20 October 2014

Micellar Waters have taken the beauty world by storm the last year or so, with every brand under the sun being quick to release their own offerings.
Micellar Waters are a quick and effective way to cleanse your skin and remove make-up. It's a non-rinse product, meaning you just put some on a cotton pad and wipe, no water needed (handy for those pesky water charges!)
I was lucky enough to get sent this Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water from the lovely people at Bee Good, so let's see how I got on shall we?!

The product claims to be a 3-in-1 solution that removes make-up, cleanses, and tones the skin with no water needed. My initial thought when I read this was that it would be a perfect option for an hassle-free cleanse after a night-out! You get your skincare routine done in one handy pump!

What I like is that although the product is gentle enough to remove eye make-up, it removes my make-up in one wipe, leaving my skin feeling clean and refreshed.
It doesn't leave any residue on your skin, nor does it leave your skin feeling irritated or raw.

The Bee Good Micellar Water is packed with active ingredients such as moisturising British wild flower honey, brightening red algae and refreshing water mint. It's also scent free.

Practicality-wise, the packaging is excellent - the pump has a clickable button that means you only get the amount of product required to remove your face of make-up, not enough to do three nights!
It also makes it perfect for travel as there's no worry that it's going to pop open.

I love this product - it's so quick and effective in removing my make-up, even waterproof mascara and eyeliner! I'd highly recommend checking this micellar water out if you're on the market for an affordable, high-quality make-up remover. This little guy will set you back £10 and is available here:  http://beegood.co.uk/collections/all/products/honey-wild-mint-cleansing-water

Let me know what you think of micellar waters and which ones you'd recommend.

Make-Up Of The Day: Matte Brown Smoky Eyes!

Friday, 17 October 2014

The autumnal make-up is in full swing! Today's Make-Up Of The Day is a matte brown smoky eye paired with nude lips and lots of contouring and highlighting! It's such a simple look to recreate, and I think it looks beautiful with any lip colour.
I can see this being my go-to look for the autumn time!

                                                   FACE

                                                    EYES

The white stars indicate the colours I used! They're just three basic colours really - a dark matte brown, a matte black and a shimmery white to use as a highlight in the inner corners. I thought the shimmery highlight looked beautiful in contrast to the matte eyes.

                                                       LIPS

I will have more in depth reviews on some of these products coming soon, and I've already reviewed some of them, which you can read by clicking the name of the product!
What's your go-to look for autumn?

New In: Eye Of Horus Mascara

Thursday, 16 October 2014

As I've mentioned previously on my blog, I absolutely love eye make-up. Nothing excites me more than a good eyeshadow or mascara launch when it comes to make-up.
I'm beyond excited to share this new mascara that I was kindly sent by Eye Of Horus.
Meet their new Goddess Mascara!
The Goddess Mascara is uniquely formulated in the style of the ancient Egyptians with natural waxes and the revered Moringa Oil, found in Tutankhamnen's tomb. (How fancy does this sound?!)
As the mascara has a natural based formula, it is the ideal option for those with sensitive eyes, as well as not running, smudging or clumping.

Now this sounds all peaches and cream, but how well does the mascara actually perform? Let's take a look.....

First and foremost, I love the wand - it's a plastic, flexible wand that is easy to bend and manoeuvre. The bristles are more narrow towards the middle of the wand, which allows you to generously coat the lashes to give them full effect.
The packaging is very clever as it features a narrow tube that removes all the excess product for you as you remove the wand, so they have covered the 'no clumps' aspect from every angle, right down to the product design.
Practicality aside, the packaging of the Goddess mascara is divine - it looks so classy and sleek perched on your make-up table! The black and gold really compliments the Egyptian roots of the product.

Performance-wise, this mascara cannot be faulted. It doesn't smudge or flake throughout the day, even when I rubbed my eyes. I actually wore this to school one day last week and I was worried that it would flake and give me panda eyes during the day, but it remained perfect. It's a very natural looking mascara - it doesn't give that over the top fluttery lash effect, which I appreciate most of the time. It gives the right amount of volume and length, however it can be built up with a few more coats if you like. It also holds a curl really well.

The Goddess Mascara retails for £19 and you can purchase it at Cocktail Cosmetics or http://www.eyeofhorus.uk.com/

Let me know what you think of the mascara - how cool is the background story to it?!

My 18th Birthday!

Saturday, 11 October 2014

Yesterday I celebrated my 18th birthday, so I decided that today I'd do a slightly non-beauty related post to mark it.
I had an amazing day with my friends and family, and I just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely Tweets I got yesterday!
I was incredibly spoilt by my amazing parents and my friends, so I'm going to share with you some of the goodies I received. You can also let me know what beauty items you'd like me to review for you!

(Yes, that is a Frozen balloon!)
When I woke up yesterday morning, Mum had decorated the kitchen with balloons and a big pink 18th banner! She had set up all my presents on the table so it was a lovely surprise to wake up to! (Also, I mostly say my mum chose everything but they were from both my parents - in my house Mammy McNally does the birthday shopping!)

As I've mentioned in previous posts, my big birthday present is my trip to New York next month, but I was so lucky to receive so many nice goodies yesterday too.
My main birthday present from Mum and Dad are these beauties - a pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 heels! I'm a big Christian Louboutin fan (as you probably know from my Rouge Louboutin review!) I love them so much and I will actually be wearing them for the first time tonight, so look out for a blog post on that in the future!

Mum wanted to get me something special that I'll always have to remember my 18th birthday, so she chose this adorable pink bunny that has a specially made t-shirt on it - how cute is he?! I love having something to remind me of special occasions, so I'm so grateful for this little cutie!

As you all probably know by now, I'm boy-band crazy! Mum also knows this, so she got me the 5 Seconds Of Summer calendar for 2015! I was in two minds as to which one I wanted when I first saw the One Direction and 5 Seconds Of Summer calendars, but my mum prefers 5SOS so I think that's why she chose this one haha!

My parents also got me this gorgeous Fearne brush kit. I love getting new brushes, and the quality of these brushes is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to playing with them! I love the teal handles and the chromatic bag they came in.

*deep breaths* My final present from my parents was the biggest surprise - the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette! I have been coveting this palette for a few months now, and just last week Mum and I were talking about it, so needless to say I was completely shocked that she went and got it for me! I wore it last night for my birthday dinner and I love it so much! It is definitely my new all-time favourite palette. If you'd like a review of it, let me know!

My brother gave me money to put in my savings tin for America, which I'm so grateful for - he's the best for gifts! ;-)

My little sister got me this gorgeous palette from w7 - it's a perfect dupe for the Naked 3! I love it so much, the colours and pigmentation is so beautiful! I will definitely do a swatch/comparison post on it soon.

After school I went for my birthday dinner with some friends, and Mum got me a One Direction cake too! It was delicious - I ate Harry!

My friends also got me some gorgeous presents, from beauty products to One Direction biscuits (thanks Emma Jane!) I'm so lucky to friends like them. Especially ones who buy 1D biscuits!!
Let me know if you'd like a review of any of the beauty goodies I got!

I had the most amazing day, thanks to my amazing Mum and Dad who spoiled me rotten! I'm so lucky and grateful to have them. I'll never forget my 18th Birthday!
