Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation Review!

Wednesday 28 January 2015

This review has been a long time coming, as I constantly get Tweets asking me whether I thought this was worth the hype or not, so it's finally here! The Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation is probably the most hyped about foundation of recent times, (alongside the L'Oreal True Match - should I try it?) but unfortunately for us European beauty fanatics, it's only available in American drugstores. So when I made my way to American shores last November, the whole family were dragged on a Duane Reade dash to secure a bottle of Covergirl foundation.
So, was it worth the hype?

The foundation promises to act as a primer, concealer and foundation in one. So to me, that means the foundation should be moisturising and fairly high coverage. It delivered on both!
I would say this is a medium to full coverage foundation, depending on how you apply it. Personally I like to use either a Real Techniques Buffing Brush or Expert Face Brush - both work excellently for me.

It's very natural on the skin, it's incredibly easy to blend thoroughly into the skin while still looking completely flawless. It dries to a matte finish, which I absolutely love as I have oily skin. It has a very light consistency, which is surprising considering how high coverage it is.

I wear the shade 825 Buff Beige, which is an absolute perfect match, thankfully! The American drugstores don't offer testers so choosing a foundation is quite a risky game. For comparison, I'm an NC20 in MAC so if you're the same as me, I'd recommend 825.

The wear-time is also outstanding. I use powder over it simply as a safety net and habit, really, but I know that if I didn't wear a powder over it, this foundation would not let me down. It looks flawless from the moment you apply it and doesn't budge or separate. It also doesn't transfer - my biggest annoyance is when my foundation transfers onto the collar of my jacket!

I have never tried a foundation that has lived up to its reputation as well as the Covergirl Outlast has. It stays true to every claim made on the bottle, and is now officially declared my holy grail foundation.

As I said, Covergirl is only available in American drugstores and I got it at Duane Reade for $13.99. If you have any way of getting your hands on this foundation, I couldn't recommend it enough.

What's your favourite foundation?

Zara :-) x

  1. I will have to try this foundation then! I have heard quite a few good things about it from the internet and friends.

And I actually really like the L'Oreal True Match. The shade range is fantastic; it took me so long to find a warm pale foundation, by the W-range they have is great. It's a bit liquid-y, but I like the finish it gives with a damp sponge.

  2. I've been wondering about this foundation for awhile. I have a lot of pink tones to my skin and matching a foundation is such a challenge sometimes.

I've really been loving all of the Rimmel foundations. They match my skin pretty well when I get the second lightest shades.

  5. This is the only foundation that doesn't break me out! I do find this turns a bit orange on my skin so I just use a lighter colored powder throughout the day!

  6. The Max Factor Facefinity 3 in 1 foundation is the exact same foundation as the Cover Girl Outlast foundation. So you will be able to get it in Boots and Superdrug.
