In my recent Empties post, I mentioned that I was going to take a trip to MAC after writing it as I had enough products to avail of their Back To MAC service - if you're unfamiliar with Back To MAC, it's a programme whereby if you return six empty MAC containers (foundation bottles, powders, etc.) you get a free lipstick.
When I went to MAC to choose one, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted so I just swatched everything and finally chose this beauty - Pink Plaid. I've had my eye on it for a while but I only remembered it was on my list after I realised how beautiful it was once it was swatched.
Pink Plaid is now my go-to lip colour as it's such a daytime appropriate colour - it's quite understated, which I think makes it flattering with every look. It's a medium, cool-toned pink, which I would say is just a little bit darker than Snob. I personally find that Pink Plaid suits my complexion better as it's a deeper pink, but Snob is also lovely!
Naturally, as it's a matte lipstick, Pink Plaid is quite drying but I've eliminated this by pairing it with a gloss to add a bit of moisture to my lips. My personal favourite gloss to use with Pink Plaid is Chanel's Glossimer lipgloss in 437 Eden. It's a nice subtle, translucent pink so it doesn't tamper with the colour of Pink Plaid too much.
In terms of dupes, I would definitely say that the drugstore offer lots of lipsticks similar to this. A personal favourite of mine is Rimmel London's Kate Matte lipstick in 101. It's perhaps a little bit lighter but an excellent dupe all the same. There's no doubt that there's nothing exceptional about this colour and it can be easily duped, but I just love the formulation of MAC lipsticks. I really don't think MAC can be faulted when it comes to lipsticks - they tick every box for me.
So Pink Plaid is my lipstick of choice at the moment - what's yours?
