Makeup Products That I've Used Up!

Monday, 20 April 2015

Empties videos and blog posts have become really popular over the last year, but I personally find them quite tedious unless they're purely makeup related empties. I find it quite interesting to see what makeup items that other girls loved so much that they used the whole thing up. Today I'm going to be sharing all the makeup products I've used up over the last few months. I've been holding out on doing this post for a while as I wanted to have a good bulk of products finished up.

I have a few MAC products, which is what inspired me to do this post, as I only need one more item to get myself a free lipstick - and as I'm typing this, I actually think I have a lipgloss that's a bit past it sell by date... perhaps a trip to MAC is needed after I finish this post!

As we go along I'll tell you what I recommend, what I wouldn't necessarily repurchase, or what I've already repurchased! Anything that is yet to be repurchased, will be bought after my spending ban has been lifted in July - you can read more about my spending ban here!

Last note - this is quite a long post, I've saved up a huge amount of empties to do this! I'd recommend a cup of tea and perhaps a biscuit before continuing.
Chanel Eclat Lumiere Highlighter Pen in 20 - Beige Clair
I looked back through the archives of my blog as I was sure I had reviewed this before, but it seems like it's only ever been mentioned in my makeup of the day posts! Anyway, I absolutely loved this product and got a good year out of it, my mum bought it for me last Christmas (2013!). Like the name suggests, it's a highlighting pen, similar to those offered by YSL or MAC. The reason that I really loved this was that it was incredibly natural looking. It wasn't a concealer, like the YSL Touche Eclat, it's just a highlighting pen. It leaves a beautiful luminosity to the skin without creasing or looking like there is a lot of product under your eyes. It was quite pricey, they retail for €31, but it's most definitely worth it. I will certainly repurchase this once my spending ban has been lifted!

Maybelline Dream Touch Lumi Concealer
Following on from Chanel, I went through a bit of a phase of under eye highlighting! However this is a concealer, not a highlighter pen. This may be a better option for those of you who suffer with hyper-pigmentation or just prefer a little bit of coverage under the eyes. It gives excellent coverage and it doesn't crease or sit into any fine lines. It'll also set you back less than €10, so there's certainly no cause for complaint here! I personally don't think I'll repurchase it, as I have lots of concealers I can use under my eyes and I don't, thankfully, require much coverage under my eyes as I don't tend to suffer with dark circles. However I would highly recommend it!

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
As you all know, I'm a big fan of gel eyeliners - I don't get on well with liquids at all, so I always stay safe with my little pot of gel and my trusty MAC 209 brush. I quite liked this eyeliner - it was very black and long-wearing, however I wouldn't repurchase it. I found that it dried out fairly quickly, and although it wasn't expensive, I still thought I'd have gotten a little longer out of it. It worked well for about two months, which is good I suppose, but I think I compared it too much to my MAC one. As I said though, it is a nice product, just not one I'll go to again! I think I have my sights set on the Inglot gel liner next.

MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural in Medium
This product certainly doesn't need a long paragraph! If you've read my blog for any amount of time, you'll know this is my number one makeup product of all time! I did a more detailed review of it here, but as I'm sure you've guessed, this will most definitely be repurchased! Sooner rather than later, too!

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20
Again, another holy grail product of mine that doesn't need much to explain it. This is my forth bottle of it, and I already have another one working away! I will never stray away from this concealer for blemishes/under the eyes. No matter what concealer I use, I always seem to come back to it. You can read a full review of it here!

MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
This was one of my first ever high-end foundations! I was never a big fan of MAC foundations until I tried Studio Fix. It's relatively full coverage, and has a lovely satin finish to it. It applied like a dream - I personally used a damp Beauty Blender with it - and it looked beautiful in photos. I got quite a while out of this little guy - it lasted me a good year! At the moment I'm trying lots of new foundations but it's definitely one I'll be coming back to in the future. I'm currently using Face and Body, which is my all-time favourite MAC foundation, but if you're a fan of more coverage, this is definitely one to check out.

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Pagoda
As the picture shows, this lipgloss is well past its sell-by date! It's gone a bit of an off-putting milky-pink colour, but in its day this was a beauty of a lipgloss! It was a beautiful lilac-pink with a frosted finish. For about six months straight, I exclusively wore this over Snob by MAC - it was my signature look! I loved it because the Cremesheen Glasses aren't overly sticky or heavy on the lips, and it was pigmented enough to wear on its own. I don't think I'll repurchase it as I have so many colours like it in my collection now!

MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
The second gel liner I've recently used up is Blacktrack from MAC. As you can see, I definitely got my money's worth out of it! I found that it lasted incredibly well, which I was delighted about considering it's a pricey gel liner. It was jet-black and completely smudge-proof. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a new eyeliner! As I said earlier, I think I'm going to try the Inglot gel eyeliner before I come back to Blacktrack!

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
This is my second tube of Lasting Perfection gone! I absolutely love this concealer - it offers such incredibly high coverage without looking cakey or feeling heavy on the skin. It's also about €6, so it's an absolute bargain. A bit like the MAC Pro Longwear, it's a concealer that I always feel I need to have in my collection so next time I find myself in Boots, this will definitely be coming home with me again.

Bourjois Bronzing Primer
This is another holy grail product of mine that I absolutely loved. I'm a big fan of cream contouring and this is the perfect, natural cream contour. It's a mousse texture, making it really soft and easy to blend out. I also used it to darken foundations in the summer. It's a staple summer product for me as it smells so summery - like a lovely suncream! I got about a year out of this, which I think is excellent considering I used it pretty much every time I wore makeup! This is definitely on my repurchase list. Maybe I'll have to lift my spending ban earlier than expected....

So these are the products that I've completely used up over the last few months. If you are a fan of these posts I'll definitely continue to do them, as I actually really enjoyed doing this!

What are your staple products to constantly repurchase?

  2. The only makeup item I've repurchased is Garnier BB Cream for oily skin, I guess it's kind of makeup, lol. I have lots of items that I've loved, but I'm always wanting to try something new, lol
