April Favourites!
Sunday, 26 April 2015
How is it almost May?! I honestly can't believe how fast 2015 is going.
April was a crazy month for me, between having my language orals for my exams, birthday parties and studying, it's been hectic. May is looking to be an incredibly exciting month with my graduation coming up and 5 Seconds Of Summer at the end of the month - you can expect blog posts on both occasions because I'm incredibly excited for them!
I didn't do a March favourites last month, purely because I was only using the same old products I'd shared on my blog countless times, so today I'm back with an April favourites as I actually used some new products for a change!
I've been on a spending ban for the last month or so, and it's going quite well, so I've been really utilising some forgotten about products in my collection for the last month.
I don't have very many favourites this month but I still wanted to do this blog post as I'd made a goal to do a few more favourites posts than I did last year!
Anyway, let's get on to the products shall we?
Rimmel London BB Cream in Light
We had some lovely warm spells here in Ireland this month, which prompted me to whip out my beloved BB creams again! I normally go with the Garnier BB cream, but I found this in my stash and decided to give it a whirl.
I absolutely love this BB cream as it has all the qualities of a foundation without the heaviness. It has fantastic coverage, it's incredibly long-wearing and it leaves a lovely satin finish on the skin. My skin has been well-behaved recently so I haven't wanted as much coverage as I normally do, but I find that even if I want more of a full-coverage look, this is perfect with a little bit of heavy duty concealer on top.
It has a lovely summery scent to it too, but it's not overly perfumed, as I hate those BB creams that have incredibly overbearing smells!
I'd highly recommend the Rimmel BB Cream if you're on the look-out for a nice BB cream for the summer. It's excellent value at €8.99!
Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer in Light 16
I bought this last November in New York, and although I liked it, I still preferred my MAC Pro Longwear concealer. However recently I've been gravitating towards it so much more and I absolutely love it! As you'd expect, given that it's a tattoo concealer, the coverage is flawless. The main reason that I love this concealer is that it somehow manages to blend in so seamlessly and naturally while covering absolutely everything on the skin. It doesn't cake around risen spots or transfer from your face at all. It truly is a wonder product. Kat Von D seriously needs to take her brand over to our shores! It's a pity that her range isn't available in European Sephoras either. Anyway, if you do find yourself in an American Sephora I would definitely give this a go. There's also a foundation but when I tried that in store I found it too heavy for my liking. The tattoo concealer is $25, and you can read my full in-depth review of it here!
Tarte Pin-Up Girl Amazonian Clay Blush Palette
Tarte's 24-Hour Amazonian Clay Blushes are undoubtedly some of the most raved about blushes out there, so when I hit American shores last November I was on a mission to secure some for myself, just to see if they were worth the hype. As I was there just before Christmas, Tarte had released their annual limited edition palette of 5 blushes. I believe all of the blushes in the palette are also limited edition unfortunately, but I'm including it in this month's favourites purely because I want to recommend the formula of the blushes! My personal favourite in this palette is Bashful, which is second on the right, but the formulation of these blushes are phenomenal. They're so soft and buttery but they pack a incredible punch in terms of pigmentation and longevity. Good news for you British beauty lovers - they are now available on QVC! Otherwise, Tarte is exclusive to Sephora.
Bath And Body Works Pure Paradise Hand Gel
I think everyone is obsessed with these little hand gels from Bath And Body Works! Again, an American treat, they are so cute and so handy to have with you on the go. My sister and I must have bought over 50 of the different scents when we found out we had a Bath And Body Works around the corner from our hotel in New York! (you can see my half of the Bath And Body Works goodies here from my US haul!).
As I was there in winter, they had a limited amount of summery fragrances, but this was one of the few they had. Pure Paradise, in summary, is summer in a bottle. It's a beautiful blend of flowers and fruits that just engulfs the room when you apply it to your hands. I'm surprised that I have any left - people queue up for some when I produce it in school!
Michael Kors Sexy Amber Perfume
I've saved the best for last this month! It's weird that Michael Kors is such a popular designer and everyone covets his bags, yet very few people seem to mention his beauty and perfume lines. Anyway, the first time I smelt this was about a year ago in Spain, and I instantly fell in love - as did Mum! I actually bought this for my mum for Christmas last year, but recently I've been getting much more use out of it as I keep stealing it from her! Sexy Amber is quite difficult to describe, and I'm useless at describing scents at the best of times, so I've taken the notes from the Michael Kors website! It's described as a floral scent with Sandalwood, White Florarls and Mandarin. This makes sense to me now, considering one of my other favourite scents is Elizabeth And James' Black Nirvana, which has a key note of Sandalwood too!
This is just one of those scents that lingers all day once you put it on, and I get a countless amount of compliments when I wear it! The packaging is also beautiful. You may actually be familiar with the scent if you own a Michael Kors bronzer - I reviewed his beauty line last year and discovered that the bronzers are scented with this fragrance! The 30ml bottle of Sexy Amber is €50.
So they are my beauty favourites of April! I'm really looking forward to May, as I said earlier, I've got lots of exciting things coming up - I'm sure I'll be keeping you updated on those through the blog!
What are your favourites for April?
