Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment: Worth The Splurge?

Whether you're a blogger or an avid beauty enthusiast, you're sure to have a wishlist of cult beauty products that you want to try. For me that list is never ending but that's another story...
Anyway, I've always wanted to try one of the famous Glamglow mud masks. Every beauty guru under the sun seems to swear by it, and I've never heard any bad reviews of the masks. Glamglow do a couple of masks but the one that interested me the most was the Supermud Clearing Treatment.

Glamglow claims that Supermud is the world most scientifically advanced clearing treatment to help fight all common skin concerns. It's supposed to help with pores, problem skin, skin imperfections, clarifying, razor bumps and in-grown hair.
Although my skin has improved wondrously over the last few months, I still wanted to try the clearing treatment as I always get a few blemishes on my cheeks that I was hoping this would help with.

This is what the mask looks like in the jar - it's actually not very thick in consistency, and when you apply it to the face it sheers out. Glamglow recommend applying a thin layer over your face as it'll harden quicker, so don't worry about it looking a little light on the skin. The mask smells like liquorice, but the scent doesn't linger once it's on your face. You can leave the mask on for 5 to 20 minutes, depending on how much time you have or how you like your mask to dry. I find if you leave it on for about 10 minutes it hardens but you can still move your face a little, but when you hit the 20 minutes you can't move at all! The mask has the strangest sensation, you can actually feel it tingling and tightening on your skin! It's like you can feel all of the dirt and grime coming out of your skin. I've never felt anything like it! I normally leave it on for the full 20 minutes, then wash it off with a muslin cloth.

Without a doubt my skin feels amazing after I take the mask off, but if I'm totally honest, I don't feel like this mask is worth it's hefty price tag. It's a lovely mask that I really enjoy using, but I don't think that the results justify the price. I haven't noticed an overwhelming difference in my skin since buying this about three weeks ago, whereas I have cheaper masks that when I use, I can see a difference within a day or two.

I feel like this is a complete luxury item if you want a nice pick-me-up face mask, but I wouldn't recommend it as a skin saviour that you need in your collection. If it wasn't as expensive as it is, I think it would be excellent, but I really don't think that its performance backs up its price. This jar will give you 17 full masks, or 1000 spot treatments, so you get a decent amount of product.

I will still use this and enjoy it, but I certainly wouldn't buy another one full price. Perhaps if it was on offer or something I would repurchase it, but it's not a product I'd be rushing to buy another one of. I know loads of bloggers swear by the Youthmud, so I might add that to my list to try in the future.  I'm certainly not bashing this product, I really like it, however I just feel like the performance does not match the price tag.

Glamglow Supermud is €51 and I bought mine from feelunique.com (if you're a student I would recommend buying it from here as you get student discount!) but it's also stocked on Cloud10 Beauty and in Space NK stores.

Have you tried any of the Glamglow masks?

  3. Ah that's a shame it wasn't quite right for you - I'm a big fan of it, but I totally agree it is super expensive. It's the kind of thing I'd always grab on offer!
