Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Review and Swatches!

Wednesday, 1 April 2015

Without a doubt, I do not need any more neutral eyeshadow palettes. I have enough neutral colours to last me about five lifetimes, however that doesn't mean my eyeshadow purchasing will be coming to a halt any time soon. Naturally, due to my abundance of eyeshadows, it's safe to say that my choice can be overwhelming at times when I'm in a rush to get somewhere. So today I'm going to be reviewing my all-time favourite neutral palette - the original Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette!

It's become my go-to palette that I can create just about any look with - it's incredibly versatile and the colours are simply magnificent! Let's do some swatching, shall we?

The palette comes housed in this adorable magnetic tin that's in the shape and design of a chocolate bar. It's incredibly sleek and compact, so it's always an obvious choice when I'm travelling. I always appreciate the inclusion of a good sized mirror as well, so there are brownie points to be won there - well done Too Faced!

The first thing you notice when you open the palette is the most incredible chocolate smell - each shadow is formulated with cocoa powder, making for the most delicious palette you'll ever own.

Now...just take a moment to look at those colours. Aren't they just beautiful?! What I love about this palette, is that Too Faced have completely re-invented boring neutrals and made them different yet wearable. The palette contains your basics - the matte white shadow, your shimmery highlight, some matte browns, but also some stunning purples and olive-golds.

As I always say, my swatching skills are somewhat mediocre (I'm working on it, I promise!) so my swatches most definitely don't do the palette justice, but I'm sure from looking at the pan you can identify that this palette is a true gem.

The pigmentation is impeccable, there's very little fallout and the longevity of the shadows is really excellent.

I always love little touches, so I really like the quirky sweet-themed names that each shadow has. I'm also that person who can't stand palettes that don't name the individual shadows - am I the only one?!

The Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette will set you back €44, which is truly great value in my opinion. I bought mine in New York for $50, so if you're planning a trip to the States soon you'll find a Too Faced stand in Sephora.

If you're Irish, you may have a little difficulty finding a Too Faced counter here - as far as I know, there's one in Boots in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre in Dublin, so if you know of any others be sure to let me know! Otherwise you can find it online!

What do you think of the Chocolate Bar palette? Also let me know your favourite neutral palettes!

  2. Gorgeous shades! I was thinking of buying the palette, but I didn't because I knew that it was only a matter of time before I'd get tired of smelling the chocolate scent.
