Milani 'Berry Amore' Baked Blush Review and Swatches!

When I went to New York last November, I had a relatively small list of items I wanted to get at the drugstore. The number one product on my list was a Milani Baked Blush - I didn't have a specific colour in mind, I just wanted to test one out to see if it lived up to all the hype.

I visited about six different drugstores when I arrived, but they all had a very poor selection in terms of Milani - the stands were completely empty! The Duane Reade beside my hotel had one Berry Amore left in stock, so I bought it immediately for fear that I wouldn't get my hands on any!

Berry Amore has fast become one of my staple blushes, as it's quite an unusual shade for me. I always wear pink blushes, so I thought a little bit of berry would be a welcome change to my makeup routine.



In the pan it looks absolutely stunning - I love the marbled effect that combines the gold shimmer with the berry blush. The best part of this is that the colour in the pan actually translates over to the skin. I hate when blushes look one way in the pan, but they look completely different on your skin!

The powder is very finely milled with no chunky glitter in it. The blush has just enough shimmer to give a subtle glow to the cheeks. It's quite highly pigmented though, so apply it with a light hand! The first time I used mine, I swirled my blush generously in the blush and ended up look so clown-like I had to take all my makeup off and start again!

In terms of longevity, the blush stays perfect on me for the whole day. I never have to worry about it becoming patchy or wearing off. The formula of the baked blushes is incredible considering their price point.

As always, a quick note on the packaging! The design of the baked blushes is very clever - they come in a sleek little compact, but the pan of the blush lifts up to reveal a little mirror and a brush! As mini brushes come, it's actually very nice quality. It's not scratchy and it's super handy if you like to take your makeup on the go with you! The angle of it would also make it a dinky little contour brush.

I absolutely love everything about this blush. It's truly one of those little gems that you find unexpectedly. Like with all incredibly hyped products, I tried to use it with an unbiased mind-set, but it most definitely did not disappoint.

The Milani Baked Blushes are $13.99 in US drugstores. Can we all make a petition to get Milani over to our European shores? I need to get my hands on every shade of baked blush available!
I know a lot of people have been citing the Max Factor Creme Puff blushes as good alternatives, but I'm not quite sure. I'm still trialling the Max Factor ones - I love them, but I don't know whether I'd compare them! Perhaps I'll do a comparison post in the future.
