One Direction Lip Glosses - Are They Worth It?!

One Direction - the world's biggest boyband, who I'm quite sure at this stage have put their name to everything. I can't say anything though - I'm a huge fan of them and the proud owner of Harry Styles socks.
Their very own Makeup By 1D range launched last year, but seemed to be exclusive to the US until Christmas time, where it began to pop up all over the UK and Ireland.
When I was on holidays a few weeks ago, I spotted these Makeup By 1D glosses that I hadn't seen at home, so I decided to buy them to trial. The verdict is in, so let's see if they're worth picking up!

Firstly, I really love the packaging of the glosses - they look good quality, and the One Direction logo is actually printed on to them rather than just a sticker, which I think makes them look much more expensive than they are.

The first thing I noticed when I swatched them is that all three of them are quite glittery, which ties in with the fact that they are called 'Liquilights Glow Glosses', which means that they sparkle in the day and illuminate under UV lighting. I haven't found myself under UV lighting while testing the glosses but I will be sure to keep you updated if I do!

The glitter in the glosses is actually really nice - I'm personally a glitter-obsessive so I like a good glittery gloss! It's not chunky glitter or even noticeable when you apply it - it's finely milled into the product so you don't end up covered in glitter.

In terms of pigmentation, these glosses are incredible - they're pigmented and bold enough to wear on their own, but you could also team them with a nice lip liner or lipstick to give them an added boost.
The quality of the glosses is exceptional - they glide on so smoothly and are incredibly comfortable on the lips. They feel moisturising and they aren't sticky at all. I'm not the biggest fan of the smell, but I can overlook it as it banishes when you put the glosses on your lips. It's almost like an off-strawberry scent which isn't pleasant at all, but as I say it doesn't stay!
The smell doesn't stay, but the glosses certainly do! When I swatched them, I had quite a hassle removing them! When I wore them they lasted a solid four hours before I felt the need to reapply.

This specific set comes with three glosses:

  • Taken, which is a powerhouse pink with a pink and silver glitter throughout.
  • Kiss You, which is a true orange with a silver glitter.
  • Through The Dark, which is a poppy pink with the same silver glitter.

I like the fact that they are named after songs from the first three One Direction albums as opposed to giving them names like Harry and Liam!

At €10.95 for a pack of three lip glosses, I would highly recommend this range of One Direction lip glosses. I understand that the glitter may be an issue for some people, but I find that pretty much every drugstore lip gloss I own has glitter in it, and as I said, I love it!
Even if you're not a One Direction fan, I would definitely overlook the packaging and try these are they are genuinely great products. They would also make the perfect gift for any One Direction/beauty fan in your life.

So, will you be purchasing? Let me know if you're a fan of One Direction or if you've tried anything from their makeup range!

  1. They look lovely on you but I don't think I could bring myself to buy 1D lipglosses! *shudders* Me aged 14 would have loved that but sadly I'm not 14 anymore! :') Nice colours though!

  2. I don't think they would be the product for me. They look great on you!! But at least they are full proof and not just released for the fans I guess.

  3. I'm actually pretty impressed with the color payoff. The glitter may be a little much for some people, so it could be perfect for layering.
